Why I Left Dentistry…

Why I Left Dentistry
Four years ago, I made a pivot in my career. As a dental hygiene practitioner, I noticed a recurring issue with the majority of my patients: Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) pain or dysfunction.

TMJ dysfunction affects the temporomandibular joint, which is essential for everyday activities like speaking, eating and smiling. It’s also a common cause of chronic headaches, making it a significant source of discomfort for many patients.

At the dental practice where I worked, we often referred patients with TMJ disorder to oral medicine specialists, physical therapists or massage therapists. While these treatments provided temporary or partial relief, patients saw no lasting improvement. It became clear to me that there was no comprehensive, long-term solution for this widespread problem.

I wanted to do more than just manage symptoms—I wanted to address the root causes. That’s when I made the pivotal decision to leave the dental field and pursue a career in chiropractic medicine.

Chiropractic care is uniquely positioned to address TMJ dysfunction by taking a holistic approach. It goes beyond the jaw to examine how the spine, neck, posture and nervous system all contribute to TMJ issues. By correcting underlying joint and muscular dysfunction, chiropractic care can restore proper function and provide lasting relief.

Now, as a chiropractor, my mission is to bridge the gap between oral health and whole-body wellness. By combining my dental expertise with chiropractic care, I’m committed to offering patients a comprehensive approach to TMJ dysfunction—one that not only alleviates symptoms but also improves their overall quality of life.

If you or someone you know is struggling with TMJ dysfunction or related symptoms, I’d love to help. Let’s work together to find a solution that restores your comfort and confidence.
