… and I couldn’t find a good solution. As a chiropractor, I use my body a lot in my job. As a father, a coach, and someone who generally is trying to stay fit, shoulder pain was really cramping my style. So when I was putting Christmas boxes away a year and a half ago, when one awkwardly fell as I was stuffing it into the attic, I had no idea what kind of difficulty it was going to cause.
The pain was in my shoulder when I lifted it in front of me. I noticed it when I was reaching to grab a coffee cup, when I was trying to shoot a basketball, and especially when I was adjusting people’s midback when they were face down. The pain varied between 2-8 on a scale of 0-10, and I most went about my way waiting for it to go away, as these sort of things often do.
After a few months, I started to have it adjusted, massaged, and did some PT exercises. While these therapies helped, the pain often returned after a day or two. Man it was frustrating.
Frankly, I gave up. It wasn’t bad enough to have an MRI on it, but I only had about 50% strength in the left shoulder at the gym, and sometimes it would wake me up at night. I still hoped that it would get better on it’s own, but clearly what I was doing wasn’t working.
When I got shockwave in my office, I was excited to try it. Dr. Del used it on my shoulder and midback, and within 2 visits I noticed significant relief. After 4 visits, I was noticing that the pain was gone, and within 2 weeks, I had no pain with the cable machine at the gym, and my strength was returning.
It was freaking awesome. I’ve seen similar results so far with patients dealing with chronic pain.
